Our »anti-torsion-box« principle

A little stroke of genius

Our developers and designers have worked out a unique concept solution for the body construction of our superior motor homes: the »anti-torsion-box«.

The principle is simple: Wherever forces are at work, there will be torsion, lever action and shearing stress. Just think of a tennis racket or a golf club. If their construction was inflexible and solid, their shank would sooner or later be bound to give way and break when strained too much.

Upon full application of the brake, a motor home is subject to high shearing forces. Reducing the speed that abruptly means a real breaking test for the body construction. But also on uneven terrain, for example if not all wheels have road contact, the body of your vehicle will be tested severely: „It’s make or break“! Of course, a motor home won’t literally break apart just like that. However, deformation and material stress cannot be avoided completely.

Our anti-torsion-box principle works like a self-contained unit to counteract any occurring torsion forces. That means the construction of the „body container“ itself has sufficient strength, even without fitted furniture. Thus, furniture and interior fittings do not have a primary static function. The torsional rigidity of the body is achieved with high-quality 2sided_aluminum walls, a roof construction one can walk on without problems, and the integration of the double-floor concept. The aluminum profiles inserted between roof and side walls are also designed for firmly screwing the furniture to them. This increased stability ensures a very pleasant running smoothness and avoids creaking or grinding noises of the furniture.

The high-quality adhesives and sealants have excellent insulating properties and reinforce the rigid jointing of the body whilst allowing sufficient flexibility. The targeted use of different components to counteract any occurring forces even achieves a unique anti-torsion effect at the critical joints.

The 2sided-aluminum sandwich panel is the perfect component with all important properties required for the anti-torsion principle. Apart from their invisible advantages, the aluminum walls also stand out due to an even material expansion in contrast to often used plywood interior trim panels. Thus, major deformation of the material is avoided even in the case of strong thermal fluctuation. The aluminum body is very light-weight and moreover an effective protection against strokes of lightning (Faraday effect).

On the outside, our side-wall construction provides for smooth, shiny walls which are easy to clean and give the vehicle its automotive look. At strained points in the side walls (e.g. in the lifting bed area), the intermediate layers are made of metal instead of commonly used wood, to ensure a firm screwing of the interior elements.
